Quick start
Most people are set up in under an hour. Specifications and what’s in the box are on the Products page.
Place your sensor
Standard: mount the two floats at the levels where you want an alarm. PRO: don’t lower the probe yet — the Transmitter takes its zero reading with the probe in open air the first time it powers up.
Power up the Transmitter
Connect its power (Power Kit or Solar Kit). It shows “Waiting for Receiver…” until paired. PRO: now lower the probe and secure the cable — on septic tanks, above the sludge line with a stilling well (see the PRO Installation Manual).
Connect the Receiver to WiFi
Plug it in indoors; the screen shows WiFi Setup. On your phone, join FloatmasterAP — the setup page opens by itself (or go to 192.168.4.1) — and enter your home WiFi. It must be 2.4 GHz.
Pair the two units
When the Receiver hears your Transmitter it shows a pairing prompt with the Transmitter’s ID — press the Receiver’s button to confirm. On solar this can take up to 10 minutes.
Register
Go to app.floatek.ca/register and enter your Device ID — it’s on your registration card and the WiFi setup page. Create your account and password.
Test it
Standard: lift each float — the Receiver’s LED turns red, the buzzer sounds and the dashboard updates. Set each float to HIGH or LOW. PRO: check the level on the dashboard and screen. Either model: use Send Test Alert to confirm alerts reach you.
PRO: set up the probe
Unlock settings with your PIN, then on the dashboard:
- Tank Depth — your tank’s inside depth, in cm or inches.
- Sensor Height, if the probe isn’t on the floor — how high above the floor it sits. 100% is full; the lowest reading you’ll see is the sensor height.
- Alarm points — Low Critical, Low Warning, High Warning, High Critical, as actual tank fullness (High Critical 90% = 90% full).
- Check readings — level %, water depth and sensor voltage should look right.
- Calibrate Sensor, only if readings look off — hold the probe in open air for 30 seconds, then tap Calibrate Sensor below the tank gauge. Never calibrate with the probe in water.
Troubleshooting
Receiver won’t connect to WiFi
Use a 2.4 GHz network (not 5 GHz). A new Receiver starts setup by itself. To change networks later, hold the Receiver’s button until the screen says “Release to: WiFi Setup” (about 5–9 seconds), let go, and join FloatmasterAP on your phone.
Dashboard shows “Offline” or no data
Check the Receiver is plugged in, its screen wakes when you press the button, and your internet works. If only the Transmitter’s data is missing it may be out of range — test with the units closer together. Solar units report every 10 minutes.
Not receiving email alerts
Check the addresses on your dashboard and your spam folder, and add alerts@floatek.ca to your contacts. Send Test Alert goes to your main address only. A third recipient needs Premium.
Battery draining quickly
Check for obstructions weakening the radio signal. Cold temporarily reduces capacity. On solar, keep the panel clear of snow and mounted steeply. In sustained cold, charging pauses to protect the battery and resumes as it warms.
False alarms (Standard)
Check the float wiring and mounting, make sure the floats move freely, and confirm the HIGH/LOW mode on the dashboard.
HIGH and LOW float modes explained
HIGH trips when water rises and lifts the float — for septic tanks, sump pits and overflow prevention. LOW trips when water drops and the float falls — for cisterns, water storage and livestock tanks. Each float is set separately.
PRO — readings look wrong
Check Tank Depth matches your tank and Sensor Height matches where the probe actually sits, and that the cable isn’t kinked. A sensor voltage stuck at 0 V or 3.3 V may mean the probe has failed.
PRO — level never reaches 100%
100% means water at your Tank Depth setting. If a full tank reads less, check Tank Depth, and that Water Depth equals your full depth.
PRO — Calibrate Sensor has no effect
Settings must be unlocked and the Receiver online — the command goes over WiFi and is relayed by radio (on solar, at the next report). The probe must be out of the water in open air for at least 30 seconds; calibrating while submerged makes readings worse.
PRO — “Sensor reading has not changed” notice
The probe has reported the same reading for two days — usually because it’s coated and no longer sensing. Have it lifted out and wiped clean; the notice clears once it responds. A genuinely still tank, such as at a seasonal property, won’t trigger it.
PRO — dose chamber level keeps rising
On a pump/dose system the level should drop sharply each time the pump runs. If it climbs and never comes down, effluent isn’t leaving the tank — a frozen or blocked line, a clogged pump screen or a failed pump. Call your septic service provider.
You’re asked to sign in again
Each phone or computer stays signed in for up to 30 days, as long as you use it at least once a day. Forgot your password? Use Forgot Password on the login page. Your 4-digit PIN is on your Profile page and can be changed under Edit Profile.
Factory reset
Hold the button for 25–30 seconds until the screen shows “FACTORY RESET”. WiFi and device settings are cleared and it returns to setup mode; pairing is kept. On a solar unit, set Power Source back to Solar on the dashboard afterwards.
